What it is: PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is an evolution of PRP obtained from your own blood without anticoagulants, forming a fibrin matrix.

Its advantage: this matrix releases growth factors more sustainably over time.

Applied to the intimate area: it aims to regenerate tissue quality and improve its hydration and comfort non-surgically.

It is autologous: it comes from yourself, which favors its tolerance. Results are progressive and may vary.

PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is considered by many professionals to be the second generation of plasma treatments. Applied to female intimate regeneration, it shares a philosophy with PRP but with some relevant technical differences. In this article, we explain them without unnecessary technical jargon.

What is PRF and how does it differ from PRP?

Both PRP and PRF are obtained from your own blood. The difference lies in the processing. PRF is prepared without anticoagulants and with gentler centrifugation, which allows for the formation of a natural fibrin matrix. This matrix traps platelets and growth factors and releases them more gradually and sustainably.

Simply put: if PRP provides growth factors more immediately, PRF acts as a reservoir that releases them little by little. Neither is "better" in the abstract; the choice depends on the case.

How it is applied to the intimate area

Once the PRF is prepared, it is applied via microinjections to the treatment area. The goal is to stimulate tissue regeneration to improve its quality, hydration, and comfort. It is a non-surgical regenerative technique; it does not act on sexual function or replace gynecological follow-up.

What concerns it can address

  • Dryness or lack of hydration in the intimate area.
  • Loss of tissue quality and elasticity associated with postpartum, menopause, or age.
  • Discomfort resulting from these tissue changes.

As with any gynecoaesthetic treatment, a prior medical evaluation rules out causes that require a different approach.

What to expect from the session

The procedure includes blood extraction, PRF preparation, and application, all in the clinic. Measures are taken for your comfort, such as anesthetic cream. Discomfort is usually mild, and recovery is swift, following the given recommendations.

Results are progressive, in line with the sustained release of growth factors. A protocol of several sessions is usually planned, defined individually.

How we approach it at Santé

At Santé, intimate regeneration with PRF is performed by Dr. Nerina Mengani, a gynecologist with a Master's in Aesthetic and Cosmetic Gynecology. During the consultation, we evaluate your case and decide with you whether PRF, PRP, or another regenerative technique best suits your goal.

We serve in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Russian at Avenida Diagonal 384, in Barcelona's Eixample. The first consultation addresses your questions in a discreet environment, without guaranteed promises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PRF or PRP better?

There is no universal "better." PRF releases growth factors more sustainably; PRP, more immediately. The choice depends on your case and is decided during the consultation.

Is intimate PRF safe?

Being autologous — from your own blood and without additives — its tolerance profile is very favorable, always after a medical evaluation.

How many sessions are required?

A protocol of several sessions is usually planned, tailored to each person.

When are results noticeable?

Progressively. Results may vary depending on the individual and tissue response.
