Severe cellulite

About the Treatment

Severe cellulite

Cellulite is a connective and fat tissue alteration causing the orange-peel or quilted look. Genetics, estrogenic hormones, poor microcirculation, sedentary life and sharp weight changes all play a role. Very common, not a weight issue: it appears in lean patients too.

Who does it affect?

Affects 80–90% of adult women in varying degrees. Starts from puberty and worsens with pregnancy, hormonal contraceptives or sedentary life. Consistency matters more than intensity: progressive sessions with follow-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does severe cellulite appear and why is it harder to treat?

Severe cellulite results from a combination of genetic, hormonal, and circulatory factors that create deep depressions in the skin. In advanced stages, connective tissue retracts and forms fibrous bands that trap fat, generating that pronounced irregular appearance. Severity depends on individual predisposition, hormonal changes, sedentary lifestyle, and compromised lymphatic circulation.

What treatment does Santé offer for severe cellulite?

At Santé, we perform cellulite subcision, a procedure that releases retractile fibrous bands using a specialized needle. This allows adipose tissue to remodel and skin to recover uniformity. We frequently combine subcision with collagen inducers or mesotherapy to enhance dermal regeneration and improve texture long-term.

How many sessions do I need and when will I see results for severe cellulite?

Severe cellulite typically requires 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Initial changes are visible after 3–4 weeks as deeper depressions diminish. Progressive improvement continues over 3–6 months through neocollagenesis. Optimal results are achieved upon completing the protocol and maintaining post-treatment care.

Does subcision hurt and what is my recovery time?

Subcision is performed under local anesthesia, so there is no pain during the procedure. Post-session, mild swelling, superficial bruising, and tenderness for 5–7 days are normal. No significant downtime required; you can resume normal activities the next day. Avoid aggressive massage and intense exercise the first week for optimal healing.
