Uneven skin tone

About the Treatment

Uneven skin tone

Skin pigmentation reflects melanin, which rises with sun, hormonal change (oral contraceptives, pregnancy), inflammation or ageing. Depending on the origin you may see sun spots, melasma, post-inflammatory marks or uneven tone. Without a precise diagnosis the wrong treatment can make it worse.

Who does it affect?

It mostly affects women aged 30 to 55 and men with intense sun exposure or Mediterranean skin. It is common after pregnancies, summers without proper SPF, or in sensitive skin that has gone through inflammation.

Help & Support

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have uneven skin tone with dark spots?

Uneven tone results from irregular melanin accumulation, chronic sun exposure, post-acne inflammation, hormonal melasma, or aging. UV radiation stimulates melanocytes unevenly, creating hyperpigmentation in specific areas. Genetic factors, oxidative stress, and scarring from previous inflammation also alter natural pigment distribution, contributing to visible dark patches and tone irregularities.

What treatments does Santé use to correct uneven tone?

At Santé, we combine Hollywood peeling—deep chemical exfoliation that evens the epidermis—with rejuvenation laser, which fragments melanin and stimulates new collagen. This synergy eliminates spots, refines texture, and restores luminosity. The protocol is personalized based on hyperpigmentation intensity and skin type for maximum efficacy and safety.

How many sessions do I need and when will I see results?

We typically recommend 3–6 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Visible results appear after the second session: lighter spots and more uniform tone. Progressive improvement continues for 2–3 months post-treatment thanks to collagen regeneration. Optimal results consolidate at 4–6 months.

Does it hurt, what's the downtime, and at what age can I do it?

Hollywood peeling produces controlled warmth; laser is well-tolerated. Minimal downtime: erythema 24–48 hours and mild flaking 3–5 days. Avoid direct sun for one week. No age restriction, though more common from age 30 onward. Not suitable if active herpes, extreme photosensitivity, or recent tanning present. Pre-consultation recommended to assess contraindications.
