Loss of facial definition

About the Treatment

Loss of facial definition

Facial volume depends on fat compartments, bone and ligaments. With age the deep fat shifts and drops, bone resorbs and ligaments loosen. The result is loss of projection, descent of tissues and loss of the highlights that frame the face.

Who does it affect?

It appears gradually from 35 onwards and accelerates after weight loss, multiple pregnancies or sustained stress. It is common in lean faces or fine bone structure, where the changes show earlier.

Help & Support

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I lose facial definition over the years?

Facial definition loss occurs due to progressive bone volume loss and subcutaneous adipose tissue resorption, especially in the cheekbones, jawline, and chin. This accelerates after age 30-35 due to decreased collagen and elastin production. Genetic factors, sun exposure, and lifestyle influence the speed of this volumetric reabsorption.

What treatments does Santé use to restore facial definition?

At Santé, we use personalized protocols combining high-volume hyaluronic acid in the cheekbones and jawline with Radiesse (calcium hydroxyapatite) to stimulate long-term collagen production. These volume-inducing treatments restore facial architecture, enhancing natural angles and improving projection without altering your features.

How many sessions do I need and when will I see results?

Results are visible immediately after the first session, though final volume stabilizes within 2-3 weeks. Radiesse continues stimulating collagen for 12-18 months. We recommend an initial session with touch-ups every 12-18 months depending on your metabolism and definition goals.

Does it hurt? What's the downtime? At what age can I do it?

Treatment is virtually painless thanks to topical and infiltrative anesthetics. Downtime is minimal: slight redness and swelling for the first 24-48 hours. It's safe from age 25-30 when facial architecture is fully defined. There are no significant contraindications for patients without allergies to the components.
